THE 2022 AUTUMN CLASSIC
As in the past, the extravaganza was superbly organised by club member Graham Robinson who, to his eternal credit,
Two classes were run, one before lunch, using cars from the beautiful Policar Formula 1 series, with models from Ferrari, Lotus, March and B.R.M. being raced. This class was run using the step-up races method.
After lunch, Classic Sports & G.T. cars ran in a 24 minute endurance race. Competitors drove four 6 minutes heats, in the four lanes with the results calculated on distance covered in the 24 minutes.
Everything went very smoothly, thanks to Graham, and the feeling is that hopefully it will be repeated in the Autumn of 2023.
Results and pictures from the event can be seen here.
SSRC is an active vibrant club and we welcome everyone to our race meetings.
If you just want to give it a try we often hold practice sessions on Saturdays. Why don’t you come along and see. If you are interested
please email us first and we’ll make sure there are cars available for you to try.
gave up the opportunity to race and concentrated on the running and organization of the proceedings.
We meet every Tuesday night and race two classes per meeting in a six week rotation; i.e. we have twelve different classes of cars
(including one class of 1/24th scale Minis - all other classes are 1/32nd). In each class, every driver races four times. The first class each
week has races of 3 minutes while the second, after tea-break, class races for 4 minutes except for the Racer Sideways Group 5 cars -
wherein the races are endurance events lasting 6 mintues per race.
We race many different classes and makes of slot car including NSR, Slot It, Ninco etc as well as scratchbuilt cars. Some are race tuned
whilst others are standard. |
THE OTHER CLUB NIGHT
There is currently a revival in vintage slot car racing and we hold meetings on the second Friday of every month. If this is your interest then you can scratchbuild your own or revive those old cars from the 60’s and 70’s that are probably lost in the loft. |
As with many such organisations, the Covid pandemic played havoc with our slot
racing and hence our numbers have taken somewhat of a knock with no more than six or seven appearing on some Tuesdays recently.
However, things are picking up and double figure attendances are now achieved fairly regularly. We are always happy to welcome newcomers or returnees at Pound Lane. |
