12 members lined up for our 3rd Special Event of 2025. This time the theme was Formula 1 with a Policar F1 GP and our 61 - 85 F1s.
The Policar F1 GP was an opportunity to test and familiarise ourselves with the Qualifying Heats and Step Up Finals format in preperation for our Autumn Classic in November. Qualifying was 4 x 15 lap heats with positions based on the least time taken to complete the 60 laps. Then onto the Step Up Finals where the top 3 drivers were able to choose their preferred lanes. From the flag racing was intense with the onus to stay on the track. One "Off" and you were done. At the end of qualifying heats the top three, Alan, David and Brendon were separated by only 3 seconds. Onto the first of the Step Up Finals saw Mark come in first and step up to the 'C' Final to join Roy, Keith and Ian. 20 laps later and it was Keith who stepped up to the 'B' Final to join myself, Razor and John. John won the heat and stepped up to the 'A' Final to battle it out for the podium positions. And battle it proved to be with Brendon in Yellow Lane taking the lead followed by David and Alan racing side by side in hot pursuit. A couple of "Offs" for Alan saw him drop to last but a steady stint and he was right behind David challenging for 2nd. In the dying laps Alan just edged ahead of David 3rd to claim 2nd from a distant Brendon in 1st. The Policar F1s produced some really great racing and it bodes well for our Autumn Classic in November. A later than expected finish to the first round of racing and a welcome break to savor John offerings. Cheers John!! Onto the 61 - 85 F1s and our normal format. From the start Brendon showed his intention of making it a clean sweep with two victories putting in a 21+lap score in heat #1. It wouldn't be bettered until heat #8. Razor was in the hunt but car problems at the end of heat #7 and a car change put him out of contention. Meanwhile Roy kept up a steady pace with John pushing him all the way. Brendon completed his race at the end of heat #9 and set the target for the other contenders to chase. It was Alan who, in the dying secnds of the final heat, #11, edged past Brendon's total by 0.3 of a lap to claim the top step with Brendon 2nd and Roy 3rd. Congratulations to Perry for cracking the 10 second barrier to record his fastest lap of 9.967 sec.
