HOME RULES & REGS CALENDARS RESULTS GEAR RATIOS   NINCO WORLD CUP HISTORY TRACK BUILD CLUB CARS |
|
Following our special endurance event last year we decided to do it all again this year. The club are introducing the George Turner 1/24th Mk.1 Mini in 2015 as a regular class. As most of the club members had now completed building their cars we thought it would be a good shake down of the class to find out how robust they would be, etc. The cars are resin chassis models and as such may be a bit brittle so we needed to find out how they performed. All the components are the same on all cars so the performance should be similar from car to car. Teams were selected from the eleven members attending and racing got going just after 10.30 a.m. The first one and a half hour heat turned out to be quite eventful with at least two cars suffering guide mount failure and replacement cars had to be used while repairs were carried out with whatever spares we had available.
The repairs took some time so the three remaining race heats were reduced to one hour each which effectively reduced the endurance event to four and a half hours overall. Apart from the chassis failures the cars performed really well. Handling was great although some tyres suffered heavy wear. Each team managed to record lap times in the 9 second range so everyone was very impressed. After four and a half hours of fun, the final result was: 1st place: Team Joël - 1471 laps 2nd place: Team Sparky - 1422 laps 3rd place: Team Colin - 1398 laps 4th place: Team Cesar - 1374 laps Well done to Joël. Lewis and Mark. It was a great day's racing held in a brilliant atmosphere with everyone racing for FUN! Thanks to everyone for supporting this event - our second endurance race - it made all the effort worthwhile. We now look forward to the end of this year for another similar event. Hope everyone enjoyed the day. |
