SSRC - Welcome to our website.

During the year, the Southend Slot Racing Club organises extra events in addition to the regular Tuesday club nights. Sometimes these are held on spare Tuesday nights and sometimes at weekends.
As time goes by, although the links to these events remain buried in the data, they disappear from the club website home page and thus are 'lost'. It has been suggested that it would be nice to be able to look back on some of these event results. Therefore, I have trawled through the huge amount of data that I have on the club website and drawn together the links that led to these pages being viewable.
Rather than clutter up the home page with a long list of links, I have decided to create a new page called SPECIALS and if you would like to see the results of any of these old events, please click here.
NOW ADDED - the results of the Autumn Special event.
In September 2025 some new cars appeared in the class at S.S.R.C. which is known as the Club Class. Thanks to John English and Alan Shawe, the club has a range of different cars that these esteemed gentlemen bring along for the enjoyment of the members.
Clever thinking!
SSRC is an active vibrant club and we welcome everyone to our race meetings.
If you just want to give it a try we often hold practice sessions on Saturdays. Why don’t you come along and see. If you are interested
please email us first and we’ll make sure there are cars available for you to try.

These newcomers are Datsun 510s, manufactured by the Slot.It company and as you can see in the attached photos, they have been carefully chosen so that the car's colour matches that of the lane in which it runs.
We meet every Tuesday night and race two classes per meeting in a six week rotation ; i.e. we have twelve different classes of cars
(including one class of 1/24th scale Minis - all other classes are 1/32nd). In each class, every driver races four times. The first class each
week has races of 3 minutes while the second, after tea-break, class races for 4 minutes except for the Racer Sideways Group 5 cars -
wherein the races are endurance events lasting 6 mintues per race.
You would find that the atmosphere is always friendly, helpful
and relaxed.
We race many different classes and makes of slot car including NSR, Slot It, Ninco etc as well as scratchbuilt cars. Some are race tuned
whilst others are standard.
Please refer to the Rules and Regulations page of the website to see exactly what specification is
required in each class.
| There is currently a revival in vintage slot car racing and we hold meetings on the second Friday of every month. If this is your interest then you can scratchbuild your own or revive those old cars from the 60’s and 70’s that are probably lost in the loft. |
CLUB MEMBERS
| As with many such organisations, the Covid pandemic played havoc with our slot
racing and hence our numbers have taken somewhat of a knock with no more than six or seven appearing on some Tuesdays recently.
However, things are picking up and double figure attendances are now achieved fairly regularly. We are always happy to welcome newcomers or returnees at Pound Lane. |
